So I’m in Charlotte, North Carolina from Dec. 21 til Dec. 31. for my brother’s wedding (Dec. 29). It’s been a pretty fun time so far, getting to be with the whole family and see the life Steve has made way down here. His garage has more stuff in it then I’ve ever owned in my entire life. ANYWAY….BAND NEWS.
While I’ve been here, things have been shaping up back home. We may have found a new singer….nothing set in stone yet but we’re having him come hang for a weekend and see if things go well. If not, I know James can hold it down for us…we just don’t want to pass up any possibility of getting this band finally moving at the speed it needs to…and we all think this guy is a pretty good fit for the band.
Also, more things shaping up, like a 6000+ dollar investment into recording our EP…but it will be with a producer we really respect and would LOVE to have behind the record so we will be doing all we can to make that kind of money. His name is being withheld from this blog in case A) someone is actually reading this before we even have music to attract anyone and B) in case we don’t end up working with him, there was no name dropping. C) i don’t know if that even matters D) next paragraph.
That is about it for now, but i would like to do something new for this blog…you see there is usually an option on blogs for like what music you have been listening to, and since I am ALWAYS listening to music whenever on the computer, I will always be listening to something while writing one of these things, so allow me to let you know what I am listening to right now, and if you are intrigued then you can follow the link and check it out.
so big things are going down lately but really it could just all be in our heads… but we’d like to think that its for real. no use releasing any bit of substantial news on this thing yet since we have no music up and no fans but hey, we at least know whats going on haha and its exciting.
the next 6 weeks is shaping up to be pretty baller…lots of time together to finish up vocals and then its time to record a song for people to hear.
so… I moved back home to NY this past weekend….its boring….but i will hopefully make more money being here and also its one less person who has to travel when we get together to play. we’ll all be home in NY for the summer and be ready to all move to Boston together in September….
also, our search has begun for a bass player. if you’re a friend of ours and reading this and know someone who can play bass, send him/her our way!
heres a little bonus video from thanksgiving weekend….
Friday: James, Dan And I all met at The Loft in Poughkeepsie, NY to see our good friends Lannen Fall and Therefore I Am play with Searching for Skylines and The High Court. Dan and I got there just as Lannen was pulling in, hung out for a bit until the doors opened and then went in to enjoy the show, meeting James as Therefore I am began their set. After the show we got some taco bell with Ryan (lannen fall) where we got sexually harrassed by the jolly drive-thru attendant. After a wonderfully room temp meal we all headed back to meet up with the rest of lf and all headed home to meet with CJ to hang and slumber at Dan’s house.
Saturday: The next morning brought fresh bagels and pastries provided by Dan’s parents, and lannen fall soon headed out for their next show in NJ. TNDA began a big two day practice schedule. We caught James up with a new song written over thanksgiving break and continued to pound away at getting vocals ready for the EP. Night time brought about some fine italian cuisine and some fierce competition. NBA Hangtime and Wayne Gretzky Hockey.
Sunday: We woke up to a nice light snow storm…nothing serious, but enough to make us smile and put on our snow pants and make snow angels and drink hot cocoa, and throw snow balls…. but we did none of those… we got back to work. Continuing to write and throw ideas around and maybe even a little filming took place.
We didnt make too much progress this weekend in all honesty, but we did find a lot out about how hard we all have to work and we have more of a plan… i feel like we’re in just the right spot to work real hard over christmas break and hopefully finish the vocals. when that happens, we will begin to think about recording.
so me, dan and cj got together over our little thanksgiving vacation and had a little fun with the camera…and as we said, decided to make these videos more informative so when our EP is out and people start to know us…they can then see how all of this started.
so last week we were all home in NY to do some work on the songs and get james in gear for some sing action… so we played around with the video camera a bit…just to get a feel for it…
we decided to put together a little video using the nonsense we recorded and call it a video blog… when we are home the weekend of Nov. 30th, we will shoot some more meaningful footage and make a real blog, but for now, heres us being stupid.
Eric was one of the reasons that this band took off…. with the demo he recorded vocals for, it really pumped everyone up. Unfortunately he’s in two bands and doesnt have permanent living situations.. so its hard for him to work out vocals to all of our songs…its a shame but its gone on too long and he understands its time to look forward and try to get this off the ground… well last time we got together, James put the bass down and picked up the mic. What happened was somewhat of a good thing with some potential.
So for the last week James has been working hard, writing and practicing and becoming a singer for us. We’re all excited to see his progress next time we see each other… WHICH is going to be the weekend of Nov. 30th.
Anyway, I talked to Eric last night about it, and he is a bit bummed about it, but he is understanding and realizes that we need to do what we need to do to get this EP finished. I told him as much as we are puting our faith in James, if he chooses to do some writing and participating, we’d love to have him sing for us. But for now, James is preparing himself. Even last week when we played, we ended up working out a good deal of vocal ideas with James, taking the EP even further, so we’re doing well.
Some small video from that weekend to come soon too.
so i went to the dentist last night and he told me my root canal failed…and got infected… he HAD to do surgery last night or it would get worse.. the way he had to do it was by making an incision in my gum and pulling it up, revealing the side of my tooth/roots and go in from that way. Before doing that he had to drain the infection, and then shoot needles into it…. needless to say, it was probably the most painful experience of my life and i hope i recover from this and have no complications because i dont want to have to do this again.
my face is swollen and i have stitches in my mouth… not cool.
this has nothing to do with the band, but 9 years ago i had root canal done. yesterday i was getting some pain directly above the tooth that was worked on. today i had to get an emergency dental appointment at a dentist i’ve never been to with no dental insurance. i’m about to leave and go see what the hell is wrong with my mouth. this is some of the most pain i’ve ever felt, even worse than when i first had to get root canal.
updates after i find out whats wrong/possibly have to have root canal redone.
ouch,
